Much Ado About Nothing: Trailer

When I was a kid, one of my favourite films was the 1993 Kenneth Branagh version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. And I really do mean when I was a kid – I’m talking from the age of seven or eight. Yes, I was weird. It was my kind of love story, with a female protagonist that had spirit and wit. Beatrice and Benedick were the perfect couple in my eyes, and to be honest, my view on the subject has changed little.

Now my favourite writer/director has tackled this great play (in my opinion, the best of all the Bard’s works). After The Avengers wrapped, Joss Whedon wanted to unwind and relax with friends. What better way to do that than to make a film! With all your favourite actors! At your own house?!

I am a crazy Whedon fan. I love Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, The Cabin in the Woods, and The Avengers. Not to mention his work in comics. Please don’t let this undermine what I’m about to say: the trailer looks GREAT! And I admit (unashamedly) that I did a little fangirl ‘squee’ the moment I saw Tom Lenk on screen.

The music, the shots, the great atmosphere – it feels the way I hope Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby will. I’m so excited to see this film. I hope you will get equally as excited!

Also, if you are interested in keeping up with all things Joss Whedon, I’d like to give a shout-out to Whedonesque (http://whedonesque.com), a community weblog I follow on twitter (@whedonesque) for up-to-date news on all things Whedon. Stay informed!

  1. As part of my college class, we performed scenes from this play. Was a blast! I played Borachio during the plotting scene. Good times.
